Workshop

This workshop is a practical and conversational course, that evolves from imagining to manufacturing of three dimensional objects/sculpture.
As a starting point we will look into archaic as well as modern means of modelling such as with clay, wax, assembled objects or any other desired/relevant material.

Secondly, we will be looking into moulding and casting techniques depending on each participants project. It will be a good time to start a new sculptural project at the course, collectively or solely, as well as bringing in ongoing material or sketches for development.

The ambition of the workshop is to get familiar with modelling materials and methods in ways that can help experiment with concepts and sculptural ideas. 4 days of collective

workshop as well as individual assistance and discussion so as to meet the participants’s own artistic attitude.

Method

The workshop will initiate sculptural notions and be a time and space to experiment with shaping materials. We will discuss and practice the physical possibilities of one’s own expression, through sculptural formats. A focus will be put on creating a model/object so as to exercise shape making in material and modus.

Moulding and casting techniques can vary depending on the shape and material of the object. To fit the available time and materials of the workshop, we will discuss the possibilities for each project at the beginning of the course, and find our path forward.

Bio

Rikard Thambert is a swedish/danish artist who works with figurative sculpture, based in Copenhagen. Rikard was educated at the art academy in Copenhagen.
